THE colour of the River Danube may not be blue, but it was for Johann Strauss when he composed the world’s most famous waltz.
Under the baton of Rainer Hersch, the splendid Johann Strauss Orchestra’s rendering was a delight to the ear and made one want to get up and dance.
Rainer not only conducted the orchestra but also compered the concert with humorous banter. He even conducted the Tritsch-Tratsch Polka by juggling balls!
But who could compare to the beautiful Johann Strauss Dancers in glorious costumes of the period, choreographed and directed by Alexandra Worall.
Other well-known items from the Strauss family included Voices Of Spring, Thunder & Lightning Polka and the Radetsky March. Music by Franz Lehar and other composers were also featured and included the Laughing Song from Die Fledermaus and singing by soprano Charlotte Ellett.
With entertainment like this, one night in Vienna is not enough.
