IT was party time at the Lighthouse, Poole, on Saturday night as The Magic of Motown came to town.
Three male and three female singers re-created those famous hits from yesteryear.
And much of the audience was up and boogieing as the star act belted out top tunes such as Blame It On The Boogie, My Girl and Superstition.
There was hardly time to pause for breath as the singers in dazzling outfits switched from the back catalogue of The Supremes, through to The Temptations, to The Four Tops, to Lionel Richie, to Marvin Gaye.
It was nice to hear Heatwave and Ain’t That Peculiar mixed in with the usual favourites.
And the Jackson Five ending – actually a Jackson Four – was superb, complete with Afro haircuts and flared trousers.
They ended with a fabulous version of I’ll Be There and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas’ Dancing In The Street for an encore.
