THE Bournemouth based Party’s Over record label host this free entry night of garage rock in a showcase of some of the town’s better alternative acts. Zaardvark are first with melodic math-noise. The trio pull out a powerful set consisting of instrumental brilliance and varied riffs.
Ggghost Townnn provide distorted surf pop with a sinister edge. Lo-fi vocals retreat under the sound of the instruments while a keyboard adds extra layers to the guitar, bass and drums. Their sound of distant reverb contrasts with the frantic atmosphere of the songs.
The headliners KLLR remind us that we are here to have fun. The five-piece crack straight on with uncensored, shameless garage rock. They are great at entertaining, not least because they have stripped to their underwear to perform, but because their tunes equal their persona. There are several tracks that stand out. Shake Them Bones is a punch of power-chord punk while Sleeping With The Dogs offers a bass groove interrupted with noise. Catch them while you can.
