LAST night was so beautiful at Lulworth Castle that all this week’s downpours were forgiven. It was one of those occasions when you simply watch the sun go down, drink in hand and soak up the last of our English summer.
It was the fourth year I’d flocked to the castle for an evening watching the touring outdoor Luna Cinema. It is always well attended and a magical evening(apart from last year which was horizontal rain but we won’t mention that) and each time I leave and can’t wait for the next event. Crowds of people arrive with picnics, wine and blankets to enjoy a night under the stars. One man even made the night more magical by proposing to his girlfriend by organizing a the big question on the big screen.
This was met with a round of applause by the crowd but unfortunately we were all left guessing as to her reply. This year’s film picks were Back to the Future on Wednesday and we opted for Grease showing on the Thursday night.
Apart from a few technical glitches with the power(which was a great excuse to get a hot chocolate) the crowd enjoyed the sing along classics and Olivia Newton John and John Travolta in their heyday.
Watching the sun go down across Lulworth, as the duo sang their famous ‘summer days, drifting away’ song, it seemed the perfect location for their famous American musical.
