SHEER perfection. That’s the only way to describe this stunning show making its UK tour debut.

Usually a fierce traditionalist when it comes to ballet, I was wary of how the collaboration of classical dance and Gershwin’s legendary compositions would work together.

But it was utter genius – the music could have been written precisely for this type of dancing.

The show was a dazzling pairing of classical dancing with a jazzy edge and the sophistication and glamour of Hollywood.

Absolutely beautiful choreography ensured both the dancers and music were showcased at their brilliant best.

Classical ballet was interspersed with ballroom, jazz and tap, which went down a storm.

Nothing brings a smile to your face quite like an “en masse” tap routine and the guest tap duo were full of fun and energy.

All the Gershwin favourites were given a turn, including Fascinating Rhythm, I’ve Got Rhythm, Summertime, S’Wonderful and Someone to Watch Over Me.

But the undoubted highlight was the stunningly beautiful Rhapsody in Blue – the dip-dyed midnight blue tutus alone earned an appreciative round of applause.

Classical tutus paired with mini top hats and hip wiggles – it shouldn’t have worked, but it absolutely did.

With amazing singers livening up the evening, and even a thoroughly entertaining conductor, this was entertainment at its very best.
