It’s a rare and low key solo appearance that brings Mark Chadwick to Parkstone’s Mr Kyps. The Levellers front man, armed only with an acoustic guitar and a hatful of tunes, serves up a rare treat of stripped down Levellers classics as well as some new acoustic solo material bereft of the trademark fiddle and drums.

As he takes to the stage no one is quite sure what to expect, but after only a couple of numbers in, the crowd are singing along joyously to the hits and engaging in the kind of in between song banter that only these intimate shows really allow.

Lightly interspersed with new solo material, but classic Levellers keep coming such as 15 years, One Way, Julie and Far From Home to name a few. The new songs sit alongside the classics in the set with ease and before you know it the set is closed with massive Levellers hit, Beautiful Day.

After the show Chadwick appears at the bar for the mandatory snake bite and black as he chats to fans and poses for photos. A nice touch.
