FOR anyone hoping this review may provide an expert insight into this year’s hit film The Artist, you are going to be disappointed.
While the film deserves all its plaudits and awards it has received in recent months, my purpose for turning out to the Regent Centre on a wet and wild night was to experience their new state-of-the-art digital cinema.
And it was worth the wait.
Ironically in the case of a silent film – albeit one with a stunning musical score – the sound quality was crystal clear but without the deafening volume you may get at other cinemas.
The quality of the picture was also excellent thanks to the new digital projection.
The Regent now has all the technological advantages of an Odeon or Empire, but accompanied with the same nostalgia feel you get at this much-loved arts centre.
And yes, the film was as wonderful as it had been touted.
