Touring in support of his album Home Again, Michael Kiwanuka played The Old Fire Station in Bournemouth on Sunday night.
With a set list of just 13 songs, on stage at half nine and off again just over an hour later, this was definitely a case of short but sweet for the sold out crowd.
With five people in the band the stage was as crowded as the venue, but the balance between the band and Michael’s voice was just right.
But what a great voice he has, whether with the full band on Tell Me A Tale and Home Again or solo acoustic on Rest and I Won’t Lie he didn’t put a foot wrong all night.
It may have been short, but I doubt anyone left feeling disappointed. If he goes on to have the career he deserves he won’t be playing venues this small for much longer.
