Another name to add to the Tivoli's roll of honour of comedians, Andy Hamilton has written some of the funniest comedies on TV.
His pedigree goes from Drop the Dead Donkey right up to Outnumbered, and his evening show is a gentle ramble through some fine comedy countryside (I'll not tell you what he recalled Stephen Fry says that's a definition for - not in a family newspaper!) The show starts well, Andy "targetting" a bloke in the audience called Mike. At exactly that moment the mic stops working.
It's a warning, but he carries on triumphantly.
And as the night continues we're treated to some great anecdotes, about being attacked by hippos, why he only has nine fingers (" I shook my agent's hand and he took ten percent"), why he'd welcome a rocket launcher on his roof for the Olympics.
He's the only act I've ever seen who's got the mild-mannered Wimborne audience to riot, turning one half of the room into angry anarchists and the other into police, with the obligatory Middle England front row looking on with disapproval.
After the break he answered questions left on the stage - including one from the bloke sitting on my row that just said "please read this one out" Andy obliged, and we wandered home satisfied.
