Stuart Moore tells Maria Court the way he managed to transform both his body and his whole way of thinking
Last September, Stuart Moore was a ‘glass half empty’ sort of person.
By his own admission he faced a ‘mid-life crisis moment’, realising he was unhappy with every aspect of his life.
Looking in the mirror he wondered where his youth had gone. His weight – touching on 16 stone – was also bringing him down.
“I knew it was important to try to change the physical side of things, but I wondered about how I could start thinking better. I wanted to enjoy getting up in the morning,” he said.
The 51-year-old from Wimborne remembered a man he used to play cricket with – Pete Cohen, GMTV’s resident Life Coach and motivator for the past 10 years.
Highly qualified in many different areas of psychology, personal development and health and fitness, Pete has developed a programme called Weightlossguru.com “He told me about the programme which helped people lose weight but it wasn’t a diet,” explained Stuart. As well as nutrition and physical activity, Pete puts a large emphasis on behavioural change when it comes to realising goals.
“The most important single factor in successful weight loss is maintaining the willpower to control our urges and maintain self control,” said Pete.
The Weightlossguru programme involves 28 days of video coaching where Pete talks you through a gentle daily focus involving simple concepts such as drinking more water, eating more slowly and only eating when hungry.
“I also cut down on starchy carbs such as pasta, rice and potatoes. Your body needs some fats, but I believe the enemy is sugar,” said Stuart. In just a couple of weeks Stuart saw a difference.
“My body shape started to change, and I was thrilled when my belly began to shrink! One of the biggest changes is that I now buy fresh foods. I am fitter and regularly exercise two to three times a week. The biggest bonus has been a huge improvement in my mental health. I’m not as stressed, feeling more alert and am able to concentrate for longer periods of time.”
His weight has also seen an improvement. “Nowadays I weigh about 13-and-a-half stone. I haven’t been that for 20 years!” said Stuart.
