HERE are some tipples to get you in a patriotic mood for English Wine Week this week.
New kid on the block, Henners was among the winning trio and Henners Brut Vintage 2009, Sussex (£27, www.henners vineyard. co.uk) is its first release. English bubbly commands a similar price tag to Champagne, and can leapfrog it if a French fizz is on special promotion.
From a younger vintage, Ridgeview Grosvenor Blanc De Blanc 2010 also struck Gold at the Sommelier Awards and Ridgeview Marksman Sparkling Brut Blanc de Blancs 2009, Sussex (£22, Marks & Spencer) is equally impressive.
Popping the cork on a vintage rose such as Hush Heath Estate Balfour Brut Rose 2009, Kent (£35.99, Waitrose) can be just as pleasurable.
This vintage rose is a real blushing beauty.
