It’s a weekend tradition in our house that has gone on for years.
A Saturday night in with the family sitting in front of the latest silly reality TV talent show.
While presenters Ant and Dec or Holly and Reggie might be regulars, there’s one more common ingredient for our big Saturday night in – pizza.
Usually they come from the cut-price freezer section of our local supermarket, but this weekend the monotony of a plain pepperoni or margherita finally took its toll and we decided our pizzas needed a make-over.
We opted for the Gourmet Pizza Delivery company in Cranleigh Road in Southbourne and soon realised we had made the right decision.
They were fast, value for money and the end result was a fantastic fusion of eight inches of Italian pizza topped with the spectacular flavours of the Far East.
On a busy Saturday night our three-course order arrived in less than 20 minutes all boxed up and hot – except the frozen sorbet of course.
We started with a garlic-soaked ciabatta to share before moving on the main event – one Tasty Thai and one Java Jive pizza.
The first came laden with green curried chicken, mange tout, peas, onion and drizzled with fresh yoghurt, giving it a beautiful and truly authentic flavour of the east.
Meanwhile, the Java Jive lived up to its name giving the taste of Indonesia with its topping of satay chicken, cashew nuts, spring onion, cucumber and turmeric.
Finally we livened up the taste buds when we shared a generous bowl of refreshing blood orange sorbet.
THE BILL
One garlic ciabatta bread: £2.50
One Tasty Thai eight inch pizza:
£8.25
One Java Jive eight inch pizza: £7.95
One Blood Orange sorbet: £4.95
Total: £23.65
Together it all came to £23.65 and for me that was a small price to pay for pure pizza perfection and ensuring our Saturday nights in will never be quite the same again.
