AN AWARD-WINNING bar in Boscombe has just been voted Pub of the Year by East Dorset CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale).
Last year Chaplin’s and the Cellar Bar was crowned Best Bar in the UK after winning the Best Bar None National award at the House of Lords.
Owner Harry Seccombe says: “I’m proud to receive this award on behalf of our fantastic staff and customers.
“This is a tough award to win especially as this was our first year being nominated.
“The award reflects not only the popularity of the pub in the community but also the quality of our real ale.”
Harry gave credit to his real ale expert and local brewer Matt Stearne and interior designer, Vivien Hoffman, who is a real ale fan.
Vivien said: “More and more women are discovering that lager can be rather dull and tasteless, and that real ales have much greater variety.
“It’s exciting to discover a new one every time you go out. Also the ingredients are natural and locally sourced.”
CAMRA, with its 160,000 strong membership, supports well-run pubs as the centres of community life – whether in rural or urban areas – and they play a critical role in UK culture.
