I HADN'T even so much as glanced at the menu, yet already I was happy with tonight's choice of restaurant. The friendly welcome, the authentic Latin theme and the upbeat flamenco music gently flowing from the speakers made me feel like I was on holiday - always a good sign.

My cousin and I had only been seated for a matter of seconds, but the attentive waiters made sure we had menus and a wine list to peruse.

We promptly ordered two Desperados and tried to make a decision. This proved arduous as the menu is extremely varied and all the dishes sound very appetising.

Happily, as we pondered on what to order over our beer and complimentary olives, the waiters refrained from loitering around our table and pressuring us into a decision, like they do at so many other restaurants.

However, when we were ready to order they were there in a flash.

To start we ordered the Nachos Rio Grande - hot nachos with melted cheese, salsa, jalapenos, lettuce and sour cream - to share.

For a main course I was drawn to the Pollo a la Mexicana - Mexican chicken - while my cousin opted for the Salsa Burritos con Pollo - burrito with chicken.

We weren't kept waiting long for our veritable mountain of nachos.

Sticking with the Latino theme, these arrived on the kind of patterned plates you'd expect in a typical Mexican household, while taste-wise they lived up to their authentic delivery.

It was the same delicious story with the mains. I'm not too observant when it comes to presentation, however it was clear they'd made the effort.

Both dishes tasted superb and the burrito was possibly the better dish, although there really wasn't much in it.

Delicious food and drink for two, attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere - great value for £38.
