WIMBLEDON is to tennis what the Monaco Grand Prix is to Formula One and yesterday the tournament got underway once again.

Generally regarded as the most prestigious tennis competition in the world, Wimbledon is also the oldest. For the first time in its 133-year history there will be no English representative in the men’s draw – all British hopes will be pinned on Scotland’s Andy Murray.

Taking place over the next fortnight, Wimbledon has become synonymous with summer rain showers, royal patronage and of course strawberries and cream. In fact it’s estimated that approximately 27,000 tonnes of strawberries are eaten at Wimbledon every year, as the tournament coincides with the picking of the summer fruit.

If you don’t have tickets for Wimbledon, all week we're posting a few recipes you can rustle up while you watch at home.
