BLINK and you’ll miss the turning to Turks Lane in Lilliput, Poole. Tucked away amidst the Parkstone Bay Marina, this is a hidden delight that you’ll want to keep to yourself.

The Parkstone Bay Café is a great place to relax and soak up the waterside atmosphere, whilst enjoying a chilled glass of wine and sample some of chef Stephané's delicious food.

The clientele generally consists of marina customers, berth holders and diners who have come in search of a table with a pleasant sea view.

The café is open-plan with an indoor section, but is mainly geared towards al fresco eating with two outside decks and a bar.

The Parkstone Bay café is also fully licensed and is open evenings.

Our visit came on a balmy Saturday afternoon, when we were in search of a light snack and a drink to while away an hour or two.

Seating was easy to find and we relaxed in the sunshine enjoying the beautiful, panoramic backdrop of Poole Harbour.

The waitresses couldn’t be more friendly and helpful and you could see that they enjoyed working in the nautical environment.

After ordering drinks, we felt slightly peckish and I decided to try the homemade beef burger that came with chips, salad, sauces and mini gherkins. My wife chose to keep it summery with a bowl of ice-cream and strawberries.

The beefburger was an impressive size and came loaded with cheese and bacon.

The whole dish was delicious and satisfied the hunger that had been aroused by all the fresh sea air.

We’ll certainly return to taste the other treats on the menu that includes venison stew, duck leg confit and haddock fish cakes.
