CERNE Abbas pub The New Inn has won the prestigious title of Good Pub Guide 2014 ‘Dorset Dining Pub of the Year’ for the second time.
The 16th-century former coaching inn is situated in one of the most picturesque villages of the Dorset and was recently refurbished in 2012.
Licensee Jeremy Lee, a former Michelin Guide inspector, said: “It’s a fantastic achievement and we are delighted to win the recognition.” Jeremy has worked closely with his head chef Ben Streak, who he said has been ‘instrumental’ in building the reputation of the pub.
The food focus in on sourcing the finest local seasonal ingredients without compromise.
Jeremy said: “It’s been a fantastic year, the letting rooms just get busier and busier and the menu offer speaks for itself.
“We are lucky to be in Dorset where the quality of the local produce is second to none, and with Ben heading up the kitchen you can be assured that every visit will be special.”
Following the refurbishment by owner Palmers Brewery, the inn now boasts 12 rooms and a stylish interior.
Jayson Perfect, Palmers’ tenanted trade director, added: “We’re all delighted and offer our congratulations to both Jeremy and his team who richly deserve this award.”
