A THRILLER by queen of crime Agatha Christie will open Wimborne Drama’s 20th season of plays at the Tivoli Theatre.
The group, which has produced more than 50 plays since being invited to become the resident amateur rep company when the theatre re-opened in 1993, will perform Spider’s Web from February 21 to 23.
Spider’s Web was written for the stage by Agatha Christie in 1954, at the request of screen actress Margaret Lockwood. Lockwood played diplomat’s wife Clarissa Hailsham-Brown, who discovers a dead body in her drawing-room and tries to dispose of it before her husband returns home with a government VIP in tow.
In Wimborne Drama’s production, directed by David Pile, the part of Clarissa is taken by award-winning actress Lauren Homer.
David said: “This is the fourth Agatha Christie play I have directed in the past few years. I enjoy her plays with all their twists and turns, and it’s always a pleasure working with a talented cast and creative team to bring to life her wonderful characters and amazing stories with their unguessable plots.”
Tickets for the production, priced £8, are available from the box office on 01202 885566 or online at TivoliWimborne.co.uk
