THE Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde’s trivial comedy for serious people, has been delighting audiences for more than a century.
It is being toured around a number of Dorset venues this summer by the increasingly popular Wessex Actors Company, which was formed two years ago by director Jo Puttick with the aim of using local talent to bring exciting and innovative theatre to the South Coast.
It's Edwardian England and two young bachelors have taken to bending the truth to add a dash of excitement to their lives.
When each gentleman is forced to unwind his web of lies and reveal himself they truly discover the “vital Importance of Being Earnest”.
You can see this delightful production at the Christchurch Regent Centre today, Kingston Lacy (July 13), Sturminster Newton Exchange (July 19) and Wareham (July 21).
