FRANKIE Valli fans are in for a treat as four West End singers belt out his hits at the Pavilion this week.
The touring show New Jersey Nights will see performers sing his popular songs during a celebration of the career of one of the biggest selling acts of all time.
The music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons has seen a resurgence after the success of the hit show Jersey Boys.
New Jersey Nights differs from that production in that it concentrates on the songs.
The show uses a five-piece live band and a team of dancers with sets providing a backdrop of the rough New Jersey neighbourhood where the singer’s success all began.
And Damion Scarcella, one of the four singers, said the enjoyment of the crowds has added to their performances across the country at previous shows.
He said: “We perform about 30 hits and it’s fantastic to perform them.
“From the start the audience love it and is singing along.
“And by the end they are all on their feet and that energy really gets us going.
“You can’t help but give 150 per cent.”
The New Jersey Nights show features the singers Jon Hawkins, Simon Schofield, Ricky Rojas alongside Damion. They have performed in West End shows previously.
“It’s absolutely fantastic that we’ve had such a successful tour and playing in front of up to 2,000 people per night,” Damion added.
Frankie Valli is now aged 79 and still tours, although he was forced to cancel a gig at the BIC in June due to illness. He and the Four Seasons rose to stardom in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
Their hits have included Sherry, Rag Dolls, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like A Man and from 1962 to 1978 they sold more than 100 million records.
“They knew how to write songs in those days and there’s an innocence to it,” Damion added.
“When they were writing them it was about liberating the youth of the day and that’s why it’s got that rawness to it.
“And when you listen to the recordings it’s amazing how they still stand the test of time.
“And it’s that rawness and energy of the music that you get to experience at the show.”
New Jersey Nights is at the Pavilion from Tuesday to Saturday
