POOLE’S award-winning street theatre is back for a fourth season with a brand new production and location.
The Lost Quay IV: SPQR Terra Roma will transport audiences back to AD47, when the Roman Army’s Second Legion invaded Poole.
Staged at Baiter’s Harbourside Park from July 22 to August 9, the story follows the new Roman commander Valerian and veteran centurion Butus as the leader of the people of Poole, Commix, and his daughter Freya attempt to broker a peace deal.
But they face trouble before they even begin as the Old Hag, chosen by the Ancients, is determined to see her clan defend itself to the last man and woman, Freya included.
The show is directed by local production company Fladermouse using local actors and writers.
Andrew Sheerin, creative director of the show’s sponsor, Halo Design Associates, says: “This event just seems to be getting bigger and better each year. The Lost Quay IV: SPQR Terra Roma will be in a completely new location, which will refresh and add new dimensions to the successful street theatre format.”
Supported by Poole Tourism and the Borough of Poole Arts Development Unit, The Lost Quay IV: SPQR Terra Roma runs two shows a day every Wednesday to Saturday with a matinee on Sundays.
Tickets available at the Poole Welcome Centre on Poole Quay, or Lighthouse, Poole.
