“FREDDIE Starr ate my hamster!” shrieked the Sun’s now-legendary 1986 headline.

The comedian also bit down on far worse in the Bushtucker Trials in last year’s I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here.

Starr now brings his unique brand of madness and mayhem to the Lighthouse Poole on May 22 with his Back From The Jungle tour.

Freddie’s distinctive approach to comedy has tickled audiences for four decades.

His act is a white knuckle ride of visual comedy and manic moments. Born in wartime Liverpool, Freddie was very involved in the 1960s music scene and enjoyed stints entertaining in Hamburg alongside groups such as The Beatles. He even lived with them for a time. In 1970 his big break came when he was invited to appear at the highly prestigious Royal Variety Performance and he was the first performer in 47 years to be allowed an encore.

Following that appearance, his career took a meteoric rise and since then Freddie has delighted audiences over the past 30 years in summer seasons, clubs and cabaret and on many television shows.

In early 2010 Freddie went through heart bypass surgery following a number of years of being unwell.

However, quadruple bypass surgery has literally rejuvenated him and in Freddie’s words: “I feel 20 years younger and full of health.”

Freddie’s unpredictable show also features music from recording artiste Stephanie Young.
