THIS month the Lighthouse Poole rounds off a season of dance that has included performances from Matthew Bourne, BalletBoyz, Moscow City Ballet and Richard Alston Dance Company, with three regular visiting companies returning on consecutive nights to showcase some of the very best contemporary dance and ballet from young and up-and-coming stars.
London Studio Centre’s Images of Dance on June 12 features talented young dancers directed by Royal Ballet principal Margaret Barbieri.
With beguiling music and enjoyable dancing, it promises to be the perfect ballet evening for all the family.
The following evening, London Studio Centre presents the exciting young Jazz Dance Company, once again returning with a vibrant programme of works.
Ranging from the sensuality and lyricism of contemporary jazz to modern street dance, the rhythmic complexity of tap and the influence of jazz in musical theatre.
Finally, on June 14 the Northern School of Contemporary Dance presents Verve 12, an energetic and athletic programme shaped by five of Europe’s most innovative choreographers.
Akram Khan presents a reworking of his critically acclaimed Vertical Road.
The repertory also includes new works by Lea Anderson; recent winner of Matthew Bourne’s inaugural New Adventures Choreographer James Cousins; Milan Kozánek; and budding young talent Jordan Massarella.
With dancers fresh from some of Europe’s leading conservatoires, Verve is well known for passionate, dynamic and engaging performances.
