CANCER Research UK’s Relay for Life will be returning to East Dorset in June.
Organisers of the popular fundraising event are calling on people to get a team together and do their bit to help beat cancer.
Relay for Life is a unique celebration of life and will take place at Ferndown Leisure Centre over the weekend of June 29 and 30.
It will see teams of between eight and 15 take part in the fundraising festival where team members will take it in turns to walk around the track non-stop throughout the night.
Those not on the track will take turns to rest, eat and sleep in nearby tents.
A poignant candle of hope ceremony is held at dusk when specially-made bags, decorated with touching messages in memory or in celebration of loved ones, are filled with sand and lit up with candles all around the stadium.
A previous event in 2011 raised a fantastic £33,000.
Cancer Research UK supports the work of thousands of scientists, doctors and nurses who are dedicated to saving more lives by preventing, controlling and curing all cancers.
Thanks to the charity’s work, survival rates have doubled over the last 40 years.
