A young woman was grabbed from behind by an unknown man and sexually assaulted in the early hours of this morning.
The attack happened in the subway under the roundabout near Asda at the Bournemouth travel interchange at around 1.30am.
The 20-year-old woman managed to escape without any serious injuries.
Detective Inspector Becky Riggs, from Bournemouth CID, said: “This unprovoked attack has left the victim very shaken and frightened.
“I am appealing for witnesses to assist with our investigation.
“The victim has described the offender as a white man, around five feet nine inches tall, of proportionate build, and aged between 30 and 35.
“Witnesses and anyone with information are asked to contact police as soon as possible in the strictest confidence.”
No arrests have been made.
