A BOURNEMOUTH martial arts fighter is calling on local people to get behind his bid to become a reality TV star.

Jimmy ‘Justice’ Millar, 29, needs votes for his try-out video on YouTube to guarantee a place competing against top fighters from around the world on Warrior Island.

The show is due to be filmed on a Pacific island this summer, with 16 contestants competing over several weeks for a 500,000 US dollar prize.

Jimmy, of Kinson Road, said his video was currently among the highest rated by fans on YouTube’s Global Proving Ground channel.

“I first found out about the contest on the internet, and after ringing up the organisers I realised I was made for this show,” he said.

“I’m not just a fighter, I am an entertainer too, and if the people of Bournemouth get behind me so I can get on TV I will put on a good show.

“They aren’t looking for the best fighters around the world because they are in Ultimate Fighter, they want up and coming talent.

“It is a great opportunity to represent Great Britain and my sport.”

Boscombe-born Mr Millar is a former semi-professional boxer who switched to professional mixed martial arts (MMA) three years ago and has five victories under his belt.

A former member of Bournemouth Amateur Boxing Club, he now trains at Primitive Gym in Ashley Road, Parkstone.

“My girlfriend and my family have been a big support so far, and a friend Jody Hall who made my tryout video,” he said.

In Warrior Island combatants will live, train and fight together.
