A PROJECT to brighten up an area of Bournemouth is being boosted by support from businesses.

Bart Angus-Hughes and friends painted many of the front walls in Purbeck Road in a bid to smarten up roads around the Triangle last year.

And now Bart’s group is being helped by the Mint Leaf restaurant nearby and the town centre’s Wilkinson shop as he looks to continue where they left off.

He is chuffed after the shop donated £200 worth of supplies and Rajesh Naik and Jashim Ahmed from the curry house are donating profits from meals ordered at the curry house on Friday night.

“I am very thankful to Mint Leaf and Wilkinson,” Bart said.

“We will never be going cap in hand asking anyone for money and we will not be going around knocking on doors.

“I hope that through Raj and Josh’s help people who wish to donate can enjoy a good meal, while knowing profits are going in their local area to a good project, of which this is just one.”

Bart named his group The Triangle, Bournemouth, A Better Place, when he launched it last year.

He added: “It is a delight as people are beginning to contact us and slowly more people are getting involved.

“It is not just about painting, or fixing – it’s about what each of us can do, bit by bit to make our neighbourhood a better place”

Rajesh at Mint Leaf said they want to support Bart’s group.

He said: “We like the area and have spent time investing and perfecting our restaurant, so it is always encouraging when people are trying to improve the look and respect of our local area.

“It’s good to encourage people who care for the community and for the people who live in it.”
