THE Charlatans lead singer Tim Burgess is paying a visit to a Boscombe coffee shop later this month before a gig in town.

The 45-year-old singer will be performing an acoustic set for 100 fans at Café Boscanova in Christchurch Road at 4pm on February 26, prior to his solo appearance at the Old Fire Station later that evening.

Baristas from the café will be brewing Tim’s trademark Tim Peaks coffee through the afternoon, sales of which raise funds for stress-reduction programmes run by the David Lynch Foundation.

The café, which was recently nominated one of the 50 best independent coffee shops in the UK by a panel of top judges in the Independent, will also provide the coffee for the Tim Peaks stand at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.

Owner Joe Lovett said: “Tim’s into coffee and he got in touch with us through a customer of ours who knew him.

“There is a lot of excitement, we’ve had a lot of people asking if they can pick up the tickets in advance, but that wouldn’t be fair.

“It should be good fun.”

Wristbands for the set are only available to people who have tickets for the main gig at the Old Fire Station. They can be collected on a first come first served basis from the café from 11am on Thursday this week.
