WORK on installing a pedestrian crossing on busy Turbary Park Avenue in Bournemouth is due to begin in April or May, a meeting heard.
Residents have been campaigning for a crossing on the route, which runs for almost a mile and has no safe places to cross.
The meeting of the ACT residents’ association heard the crossing would be a modern puffin crossing costing around £50,000.
The crossing is to be at the Kinson Road end of the avenue, close to the entrance to Dawes Avenue, the Turbary Centre and two bus stops.
Ward councillor Nicola Greene was due to meet ACT chairman Ray Wills to talk about other work needed on Turbary Park Avenue, the meeting heard.
Access for disabled people needed to be improved and surface levels raised on parts of the avenue.
Resurfacing of the road is due to take place in March.
