DORSET women keen on getting fitter in 2013 are being urged to sign up for this year’s Race for Life series.
Events have been organised for Kingston Lacy on May 12, Bournemouth Pier on June 16 and Poole Park on June 23.
Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is an inspiring women-only series of events, which raises millions of pounds every year to help defeat cancer by funding life-saving research.
Organisers are calling on mums, grans, sisters and friends to sign up and help beat cancer.
Rachel Northover, Cancer Research UK’s Dorset event manager, said: “Women of all shapes, sizes, ages and levels of fitness take part in Race for Life.
“They come from different backgrounds and walks of life but they are united by their absolute determination to take on cancer and beat it.
“We know many women want to take part but are worried about completing the 5k course. “But Race for Life is non-competitive.
“It’s not about being fit or fast. “Taking part is about uniting against a disease that affects all of us. You can walk the 5k route, run it or jog it if you prefer.”
Last year, 8,138 women took part in Race for Life in Bournemouth and Poole and raised £452,568.
This year, organisers want to see 8,750 women and girls stride out to help raise £475,000 for vital research.
Rachel added: “Together, we can hit cancer where it hurts! “There are more than 200 cancers and we won’t give up until we find cures for them all.”
