THIEVES used a lump hammer and a spade to smash their way into a house in Upton.
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after the burglary at a house in Dorchester Road between 12.50am and 2.30pm on Monday.
They ransacked every room and made off with a tablet computer.
PC Mari Montgomery of Purbeck police said: “This crime has left the victim very shaken.
“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, recalls any suspicious activity in the area at the time and anyone with any information about those responsible to contact me as soon as possible.
“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
