GOOD news continues to roll in at Arnewood School in New Milton following the publication of its latest government inspection report.
The New Milton secondary was rated as outstanding – the highest grade possible – after a two-day visit by Ofsted inspectors.
The accolade comes just weeks after the secondary school league tables rated Arnewood as one of the top two performing state schools in Hampshire.
And last year’s GCSE results were the highest ever at the Gore Road school with 75 per cent of students achieving at least five GCSEs at grades A*-C, including English and maths.
Inspectors highlighted high quality teaching and the exceptional progress made by all students. They said GCSE results are above the national average and said the sixth form is good and rapidly improving.
“This is a tremendous result for the whole community associated with our school” said head teacher Chris Hummerstone. “Our outstanding verdict is not just based on a two day visit by inspectors. It takes the excellent efforts of our students, staff, governors, parents, carers and supporters over many years to achieve this and I congratulate them all.”
Elizabeth Cook, chair of the school governors, added: “We are delighted that the hard work, professionalism and dedication of all our staff has been recognised by Ofsted. We congratulate them, our students and everyone connected to the school and look forward to the future of the school with added confidence and enthusiasm.”
