A MAN denied stamping and kicking Geoffrey Reed to death before putting a screwdriver in his head because he was a “dirty paedo”.
Stuart Wareham told Winchester Crown Court he had “smacked” convicted rapist Mr Reed once in the face after Mr Reed said he would have sex with Wareham’s younger sister whether she liked it or not.
David Mason QC, representing co-defendant Benjamin Henry Walter, said: “You lost your temper and you killed him.”
Stuart Wareham replied: “No, I didn’t kill Mr Reed.”
Mr Mason asked: “You thought he was a dirty paedo, didn’t you?”
Stuart replied: “No.”
The court was told Mr Reed suffered overwhelming crushing injuries before he died. His body was found in a suitcase buried on land off Huntick Road, Lytchett Matravers.
Oba Nsugbe, representing half-brother Lee Wareham, asked Stuart Wareham why he had signed his letters from prison ‘Screwdriver Stuart’.
He replied: “It’s a nickname I have got since I have been in prison because Mr Reed was killed by a screwdriver to the head.”
Stuart Wareham, Lee Wareham and Benjamin Walter all deny murdering Mr Reed in his flat in Cecil Road, Boscombe, on June 7 last year. The trial continues.
