GIRLS and women are being urged to dust off their trainers and help in the fight against cancer.

Five popular venues have been chosen to stage this year’s Cancer Research UK Race for Life events in Dorset.

The Bournemouth seafront event takes place on June 16, Poole Park and Sherborne on June 23 and Dorchester on May 19.

A new venue has been announced for 2013 – Kingston Lacy in East Dorset which will see a popular 5km race together with a 10k event on May 12.

Places for Race for Life are filling fast so event organiser Rachel Northover is calling on girls and women to sign up now.

“Race for Life is fast approaching and we want you to join our team.

“Whether you sign up to take part in the event, register as a volunteer or do your bit by sponsoring someone taking part, you can make a real difference in the fight against cancer.

“Cancer Research UK are the only charity fighting all 200 types of cancer and every penny raised at Race for Life goes towards this vital research. So ladies, dust off those trainers and help burn off those Easter eggs by taking part in Race for Life.”

It is hoped that 8,750 women and girls will stride out in Dorset this year to help raise £475,000 and help fund life-saving research.
