THE Do It for Dorset Campaign is a joint initiative between the Daily Echo and the Dorset Community Foundation – a registered charity dedicated to promoting charitable giving and grant making for charities and community groups across the county.

The Foundation works with secret millionaires, family businesses and companies, which want to give back to their community, and the Do It for Dorset Campaign aims to raise awareness and funds for charities signed up to Localgiving.com Ferndown Stroke Club is a support group which offers opportunities for education, information, discussions, mutual learning and support for those living with the effects of a stroke.

They provide a comprehensive events programme which includes speakers on various topics, a Christmas luncheon, theatre trips, and other events, which all contribute towards increased confidence in their members.

In addition, they provide subsidised transport for members with severe disability.

The stroke club provides a place where stroke survivors can meet, socialise and swap tips. They aim to bring a sense of belonging and a good environment for their members where recovery, either physically, mentally and emotionally can be encouraged.

The club has grown in membership since the introduction of several new committee members in 2011, and combined with the original team, has had a very positive effect throughout the club.

The committee has given a great deal of their time to raise funds and ensure the club continues to operate successfully through their team who are all volunteers.
