TWO DORSET animal charity workers have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money.

Inspector Jo Story and Inspector Patrick Bailey headed for the hills to drum up £4,000 each for the RSPCA, by scaling the 19,341ft height.

Jo and Patrick both agreed that they wanted to use the climb, which they completed in February, as a way to highlight their work as inspectors.

Jo, who works in the Bournemouth and Poole branches, said: “We are a charity so we rely on public funds to keep us going.

She added: “There were 15 people from the RSPCA who took part, with the hope of making up a total of £80,000, which we have raised 85-per-cent of.

“Patrick and I are both inspectors, which means that we investigate complaints involving animals, including reptiles, dogs, cats, sheep, cattle and all other animals.

“A lot of our work is giving out advice to people, and if we can look after the animals, we will. If we can’t, because they are too sick or badly treated, then we may look towards prosecution, which has been happening a lot more recently.
