POLICE have released new information as they search for two masked raiders who robbed a New Forest shop.

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw the two men driving a black Vauxhall Astra convertible in Ringwood early on Good Friday.

The thieves struck at the Co-Operative store in Parsonage Barn Lane, Ringwood, between 7.20am and 7.30am that day.

Although they stole cash from the counter and packets of cigarettes, staff refused to meet their demands to hand over the keys to the shop safe.

The robbers then fled.

The car was later found abandoned after in Poplar Way, Ringwood.

Det Sgt Orchard said: “Police would like to thank staff at the Co-op, and other witnesses who have come forward to tell us they saw two people leave a black Vauxhall Astra in Poplar Way, and then drive away again in a white or silver vehicle.

“Enquiries are continuing in the community, and we are making checks on other cars reported stolen recently.

“Detectives are appealing for information from anyone who saw two people acting suspiciously in a black Vauxhall Astra convertible in Ringwood early on Good Friday morning.”

Anyone with information should contact the police on 101.
