BITING winds failed to deter people from enjoying Easter holiday fun across the area.

There was something for all ages at Boscombe Chine Gardens, with face painting, storytelling sessions and nature trails for younger visitors and live music for parents and grandparents.

A dog show added to the festivities with a special appearance by Dorset Fire and Rescue Service.

Despite unseasonably low temperatures, the annual event attracted crowds for four hours who had wrapped up warm before celebrating the Bank Holiday weekend in traditional style.

From the nearby pier, fundraisers set off on the tenth annual Rotary quarter marathon, running along the promenade to Southbourne and Hengistbury Head and back again.

There were also shorter courses and a family fun run.

Ashley Road in Parkstone provided the setting for an Easter egg hunt on Saturday with participants challenged to find egg signs in shop windows.

Town crier David Squire donated two trophies and drummed up support along with Poole councillor Judy Butt who marked the occasion by dressing up as an Easter bunny.

Twenty-eight businesses between the Albert Road and Victoria Road junctions took part and St John’s church was open to the community.

Leigh Park community centre in Wimborne hosted an Easter celebration on Saturday with an egg hunt, barbecue and storytelling by John Billington.

Meanwhile Verwood Rugby Club members used muscle power during a charity van pull around the town.

Proceeds will be split between Sport Relief and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
