TONIGHT sees Bournemouth’s most famous club brand celebrate its 16th birthday at the O2 Academy.
Renowned DJ and Slinky supremo Lee Haslam told 24Seven about what to expect from the line-up of top DJs.
“Celebrating 16 years in club land is no mean feat, and as with all our events, I have tried to put the best possible line up together that covers everyone’s tastes within the genre, which again is not easy.
“We have the world number 14 in Gareth Emery headlining which I am very excited about. Gareth hasn’t played since 2005 so it’s well overdue,” says Lee.
“Then, of course, we have a true Slinky legend in Judge Jules who has played some amazing sets for us over recent years, and then there is Simon Patterson.
“Simon for me, is arguably one of the most exciting young DJ/producers of our time.
“Then, last but by no mean least, our good friend Genix, who again is pioneering some amazing stuff of late.
“All round I feel this is an epic line-up that will produce an amazing night.”
So why does Lee think Slinky has endured as a club night?
“I think the brand is very iconic and is more of a lifestyle these days to its followers.
“It has had an established home for pretty much all of its 16 years in the Opera House and now, of course, the O2 Academy.
“This is something that most brands cannot boast, especially a home that is widely regarded by clubbers and DJs alike to be one of the best in the world.
He added: “Judge Jules was only saying the other day that Slinky has been a cornerstone of UK and global clubbing so it’s a real privilege to be a part of that and I think the town and the clubbers feel that as well.”
