A NEW monthly event celebrating cultural diversity in Boscombe is being launched on Sunday.
The ‘It’s all about Culture’ project will see people from different ethnic backgrounds living in the area meet to explore music, dance, cuisine and other aspects of their cultural heritage.
The first event, at the Selwyn Hall, St John’s Church, Christchurch Road, will see people from the British, African, Caribbean, Nepalese and Polish communities gather between 12-3pm.
Organiser Brie Logan said: “People are proud of their history and heritage and this project will provide them with the opportunity to share their culture with others through a number of differing activities, the primary focus being their passion for food and music.
“The aim is to improve community cohesion and social inclusion in Boscombe and surrounding areas.”
A further five different cultures will meet up each month until September, when a big event is planned involving all 20 groups. Organisers are hoping to invite schools to the events to widen youngsters’ cultural awareness.
