THE Baker’s Arms roundabout on the A35 could be home to a brazier to reflect the town’s heritage.
Lytchett Minster and Upton Town Council is seeking people’s views on this idea to have a one metre brazier on top of a 3.5 metre pole, representing a beacon.
Beacon Hill on Upton Heath was formerly a site where beacons were lit to signal important events such as an enemy invasion.
The idea would be to prune the trees on the roundabout to ensure it was visible from all four exits.
None of the trees are protected and any work would be carried out in October/November.
Sponsorship from Tappers Harbour View Woodland Burial Ground has resulted in regular grass, weed and litter maintenance and a planting programme.
“Before we proceed we would welcome people’s views on this next phase,” said Karen Wright, town clerk.
