A FIRE in Poole on Sunday afternoon was caused by a mouse chewing through electrical cabling.

Two crews from Poole fire station attended the kitchen fire at the house in Green Road, Old Town after the owner reported black smoke coming from the electric cabling in the kitchen units.

They were advised to get out, closing the doors behind them.

When the firefighters arrived, the fire was out and they inspected the property, returning later to issue safety advice to nearby residents.

There was damage to the underside of the kitchen cabinets.
