POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a two car collision in Swanage last Monday.

A black Fiat Punto registered to a Swanage woman and a black Volkswagen Golf registered to a Swanage man collided causing extensive damage to a fence, bus stop and a post-box at 7.05 on May 13.

A 34-year-old man was taken to Poole Hospital as a precaution, but nobody was seriously injured.

Police Constable Mari Montgomery, of Swanage police, said: “Following this incident, two members of the public helped get the driver of the Volkswagen out of his vehicle.

“Unfortunately they left without leaving their details, and we are very keen to speak with them.

“Neither driver suffered serious injury, but the collision caused extensive damage and great expense.

“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact police in confidence using the non-emergency 101 number.”

A 34-year-old Bournemouth man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences and bailed until late June 2013.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 13:38. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
