A MUSIC festival will take place in memory of a little girl who lost her life to a form of childhood cancer.
The Litten Tree Festival will take place on Sunday, June 9, in aid of the Amelia Grace Rainbow Fund, a charity set-up following the death of eight-year-old Amelia Grace Cooper in 2010 from the aggressive childhood cancer neuroblastoma.
Amelia’s parents, Chantel and Karl, established the charity to provide financial grants to children in Dorset who suffer with serious chronic, life-limiting and terminal illnesses.
The money goes towards days out or a new toy for the youngsters with the process designed to be as hassle-free as possible as the charity provides the grants non-means tested.
The event, at the Litten Tree pub in Old Christchurch Road, will see 12 hours of music from 12 of the area’s brightest talents, who have all agreed to donate their time and energy free of charge.
It will begin at noon and continue until midnight with two indoor stages, an outdoor acoustic stage, BBQ and raffle.
Acts confirmed include Big Winston, Sansara, Empire Affair, Escape from 98, Deezul, Draw Me Ugly, 9 Left Behind, Bonsai Pirates, Funklesam and many more.
Chantel Cooper said: “We feel strongly that this should be a community fund, one that people feel connected with and they can see the difference it hopes to make in the local community.
“We work closely with the local hospital children’s units so that funds can be given to those in need of it most and over the coming months and years we hope that with your help, the Amelia-Grace Rainbow Fund can grow into a household charity that all can contribute to and see the benefits from.
“So far in 2013 the charity has helped 13 children in Dorset, however there are currently over 400 children across Dorset suffering from serious chronic, life limiting or terminal illnesses.
“We need to make events like the Litten Tree Festival into regular and successful events so that we can continue to raise the funds that these children so desperately need.”
