New Forest shoppers are being warned to look out for pop-up adverts asking them to fill out a survey.
A Hampshire resident was recently alarmed to find he had been charged £58.50 on his phone bill after putting his phone number on a survey.
He received text messages inviting him to play an online gambling game and others that said he would be charged £4.50 if he didn’t reply ‘STOP’.
He ignored the messages and contacted his mobile phone provider who gave him a refund.
Hampshire County Council Trading Standards Service warns consumers to be alert when ordering goods off the internet and not to click on pop-up adverts.
If you are concerned about this matter you can contact Hampshire County Council’s Trading Standards Quick Response Team on 01962 833666.
