THE Poole carnival Queen, Princesses and King that will attend events over the next 12 months have been chosen.
After an extensive selection process on Friday at the Sandbanks Hotel, the finalists were announced and then whittled down to the top four entrants, as decided by a panel of judges, to become this year’s Poole royalty.
The carnival queen for 2013/14 will be Charlotte Olsson, 18, the carnival king is Kirtis Maxwell, 14, and the two princesses are Faith Hatcher, 16, and Noemi Drake, 16.
Now they will each attend carnivals across Dorset, including Corfe Mullen on June 8, Winton carnival on June 29 and Upton Carnival on July 13, as part of their ceremonial duties.
David Squire, Poole Town Crier, who was part of the selection process, said: “I’ve been involved with the organising of Poole Carnival since 1954 .
“The carnival queen, king and princesses will attend a number of carnivals in the area, including the Christmas Parade in Poole, leading up to Poole Carnival on Sunday, May 25, 2014. Each time they will follow the Parkstone Traders float on all six ceremonial events.”
Charlotte Olsson, Carnival Queen, said: “This is the first year that I have entered the competition, as I’d like to be Miss Bournemouth one day, and it feels like I’m famous. My friends are all really excited for me.”
