DORSET Police has announced that David Lewis has been selected as the new assistant chief constable.
The 47-year-old will take up the post in July and is currently working as ACC for the Association of Chief Police Officers office in London.
Chief Constable Debbie Simpson said Mr Lewis was chosen following a “closely fought, competitive process”.
“He has a wealth of policing experience on both a local and national level and I’m confident he will be an asset to the force.”
David Lewis said: “Dorset is an outstanding police force and I am absolutely delighted to be joining it. I have already found a team of professionals who take great pride in serving the people of Dorset and making the county a safer place for the people living within the county.”
“I am very grateful for the warm welcome that I have received and look forward to taking my place in the team.”
David Lewis, aged 47, grew up in Sussex before attending Bristol University, graduating in law in 1988. He started his police career in 1990 in Bristol and has worked for a number of forces.
