DORSET company Farmer Palmers have asked a group of Events students to put on an event for them next Spring.
The group, consisting of five first years, Tiffany Gumbrell, Helena Jarman, Mellisa Kunzwa, Molly Kinoulty and Stephen Hill, pitched their ‘Farm Factor’ idea to the clients last month. Tiffany Gumbrell said: "we really wanted to bring the school children of Dorset together and reunite the community through this festival."
Kate Jones, who teaches on the units Events Management, Event and Leisure Innovation, and Event, Design and Production said she was ‘really chuffed’ to hear the group had impressed the client so much. This is the third group this year to be asked to put on an event for a ‘real’ client. Jones also said she thinks "it is crucial that students have real life experiences whilst at University."
Students’ being picked by clients to hold events boosts the reputation of the Events and Leisure degree programmes, and also helps students create contacts in the industry for the future.
The group are to put on the Farm Factor event in Dorset next year and the students are soon to be planning it.
