A HOLIDAY-maker and a kite surfer both broke the same bones during separate incidents in Dorset yesterday.
A 69-year-old woman fell at Durdle Door, breaking her tibia and fibia.
She required an airlift to Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester.
Not long afterwards, a kite surfer in Poole was caught by a gust of wind and dragged around 400 metres from the shore, breaking the exact same bones.
He also was airlifted to hospital.
A Dorset Coastguard spokesperson said help was requested by emergency services due to the location of the first incident.
“The lady was in a difficult position,” she said.
“Our helicopter was already training nearby, so went along to help take the lady to hospital.”
In the second incident, it is believed that a hero paramedic pulled on waders to rescue the kite-surfer from Poole Harbour.
The spokesperson said: “A land-based paramedic waded out to him and a helicopter from Solent airlifted him to hospital.”
