THE biker who organised a ride-out in memory of Jade Clark said it was “an honour” to do it for the family.

Around 40 bikers and scooter riders from across the south arrived at Ringwood Rugby Club on Sunday (May 26) lunchtime to remember the 16-year-old.

Jade’s mum Sharon and stepdad Daniel attended the event, alongside Ringwood residents, members of Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and Ringwood Yound Firefighters’ Association.

Jade, a much-loved member of the young firefighters, was riding her red scooter along the A3 near Ashley Heath on the evening of Sunday February 24 when she was involved in a collision and died.

Jade’s mum and stepdad told the Daily Echo they were “overwhelmed” by Sunday’s turnout and thanked everyone for their support.

Ride-out organiser Tony Wray said: “It is a real honour to do this for the family. As soon as I heard about the accident, I felt I had to do something.”

Mr Wray did not know Jade’s family, but he got in touch through mutual friends.

He added: “When I first heard of the accident, everything just stemmed from there. The response I got from everybody else was great.

“I’d like to thank everyone talking part, especially Tracy and Paul. The people that have come along to support have really gone out of their way.

“I’m trying to organise now, with the police and the fire brigade, courses for people starting on learner bikes and scooters.”

Tony, from Farnborough, north Hampshire, rode his Honda 1100 Pan European Cruiser from his home, picking up fellow bikers at service stations along the way.
